Pirates beat Bridgeport, 67-56
BRIDGEPORT – Perrin’s boys basketball team fell behind early vs. Class 4A Bridgeport but broke things open in the middle quarters enroute to a 67-56 win over the host Bulls in their season opener Nov. 11.
Bridgeport got out to a 16-8 lead after one with Dayne Thompson and Kolby Burke each having three points for Perrin in the frame with Ryan Richardson adding two. In the second frame, the Pirate defense tightened down to allow just 10 points while sophomore guard Jack McCormick had 10 points with Thompson adding nine and Case Lambert tossing in two to take a 29-26 lead at the half.
McCormick (13 points) and Thompson combined for all 22 Perrin points in the third while allowing just 12 to extend the lead to 51-38 heading ing to the fourth.
With the game in hand, Perrin was outscored 18-16 in the quarter, Thompson having another ninepoint frame with Mc-Cormick adding five and Burke two.
Thompson led all scorers with 30 points with McCormick putting in 28.
It was a busy weekend for Perrin as the squad played backto- back games, coming back Saturday night to face an athletic Keene squad in the Lipan Challenge and suffering a 79-63 loss.
“They were really athletic and a very good team,” Coach Todd McCormick said.
Perrin will hosts its annual tournament Nov. 17-19, the Pirates facing Three Way in its opener at 1:50 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Pirates will face Three Way in their opener at 7:10 p.m. Thursday.
