Lady Bobcats end Cowgirls season in three-game sweep

Wed, 11/17/2021 - 8:58 am

MIDLOTHIAN – A tough way to end a great season.

Bryson ran into a buzzsaw known as top-ranked Blum Friday, Nov. 12 in the Region II-A volleyball semifinals. The Lady ‘Cats, which knocked Bryson from the postseason a year ago, were able to do the job again.

Despite a valiant effort from he Cowgirls, Blum, the Region II-A winner from a year ago, was able to find its spots and put the ball where Bryson wasn’t in a 25-8, 25-11, 25-13 win.

Blum, which had just one senior and eight sophomores, took control early in game one, Bryson getting a Windsor Godfrey point to draw within two for the Cowgirls’ first serving point. It would also be the last serving point of the game, as Bryson would break serve on kills by Godfrey and Riley Valliant but be able to do nothing once they had the serve.

An eight-point run from Kayden Arrington had the Lady ‘Cats off on the right foot in game two, aided by kills from Addison Willingham and Emma Scott. A Valliant kill broke Blum’s serve while Tracy Hauger came through with three points to draw within 4-8.
