JV White wins at home, 28-0
Evan Walker had another solid outing on both sides of the ball, scoring three times in helping Jacksboro’s JV White team post a 28-0 victory over Burkburnett’s JV Black squad Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
Jacksboro is now 2-1.
Walker had a 47-yard touchdown reception in the opening minute of the first quarter to give the hosts all the offense they’d need. He added a pick six late in the third to break the game open and later a 29-yard scoring run.
Burkburnett, which showed up 14 minutes before kickoff, moved the ball well to start. The ‘Bogs got inside the Tiger 35 before the Purple defense got a key stop from Glyndon Rodriguez and Aaron Booker to force a turnover on downs.
Gavin Kennedy and quarterback Brayden Rockey led the rushing charge which set up the 47-yard pass to Walker in the final minutes of the first. A conversion try failed.
Another turnover on downs for the visitors set up Jacksboro, which used a 16-yard run by Rockey to get to the Burkburnett 20. The drive stalled and the Tigers turned the ball over.
A 22-yard strike from Rockey to Ricardo Andrade got the ball to the Bulldog 7 late in the half but a Burkburnett interception closed out the half.
The squads exchanged turnover on downs for most of the third quarter until Walker came through with the interception for the touchdown with just 8 seconds left in the third. Rockey and Tony Baron combined on the conversion for a 14-0 lead.
After another turnover on downs by the Bulldogs, Jacksboro began to put the game away. Kennedy’s 12--yard run moved the ball to the Buck 46. Walter later took a pitch and went 29 yards around the right side to pay dirt. The conversion failed with 3:13 to go.
Barely two minutes later, Isaac Wesson came through with the second pick six of the contest with a 41yard jaunt to the end zone. Noah Barlow ended the scoring with the conversion run with 50 seconds remaining.
