Jonesboro roughs up Bryson

BRYSON – Cowboy fans got to see one of the top 10 Class A teams in the State Friday night when Jonesboro came to town.

The Eagles needed just one half of play to take care of the hosts in a 60-14 win. Jonesboro outscored Bryson 24-8 in the first and 36-6 in the second to win by mercy rule.

The Cowboys put up just 125 total yards, including 10 in the air on 3-14 passing with two interceptions. Landon Stephens 1-7 for a minus-3 yards. Zander Tinney was 1-3 for eight yards and Wes Whitaker was 1-2 for five yards.

Colt Reeves had the reception for minus-3 yards. Conner Huffman had the grab for five yards and Grayson Allen had the catch for eight yards.

On the ground, the 110-yard attack was paced by Stephens who ran for 62 yards on nine totes and a score. Tinney had the other touchdown on a two carry for 22 yard night. Huffman rushed for 31 yards on three rushes. Rangen Register and Jacob Justus each had one carry for three years.

Defensively Register and Reeves each had five tackles with Stephens having five interceptions.

Bryson opens district play this week with a Homecoming battle with Saint Jo. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
