JMS girls track 2nd

Both the 7th and 8 grade JMS girls track teams finished with strong showings at a track meet last week.

The 7th grade finished with 139 points, good enough for 2nd place among five teams.Lainey Brown won the 400-meters with a time 1:10.20. Brown also combined by Sofia Buenostro, Dylann Nichols and Ruby Flores for a win in the 1,600-meter relay wit a time of 4:52.54.

Buenostro was 2nd in the 200-meters in 30.97, as was Madison Collins in the 800-meters with a 3:00.11 clocking, 1,600-meters in 6:45.02 and 2,400-meters in 10:32.10.

Other 2nd place finishes came from Brown in the long jump with a 12’8”, Buenostro in the triple jump with a 28’2 3/4” effort and Savannah Hearn in the shot put with a 28’ 4 3/4” try.

Buenostro was third in the 400-meters with a 1:12.56. Other third place finishes came from Ashleigh Guthrie in the 1,600-meters with a 7:10.78. and the 800-meter relay foursome in 2:09.75.

Finishing fourth were Kailee Lehman in 14.99, Brown in 31.15, Johanna Rangel in the 800-meters in 3:06.18, along with Flores, Amber Cason, Lehman, and Kennedy Lowther in the 400-meter relay in 59.77.

Coming back with fifthplace finishes was Rangel in the 1,60-meters in 7:13.23 and Lowther in the long jump with a 12’ 7.5”, and Peyton Perry in the discus with a 60’ 7 1/4”. In sixth place were Guthrie in the 800-meters with a time of 3:09.62 and Perry in the shot-put with a 23’ 1/2” throw along with Hearn in the discus with a 57’9 1/2” throw.

On the 8th grade side, Emilee Bivins won the 1,600-meters in 6:11.18, the lone first-place finish. In 2nd place was Lauren Morris in the 200-meters in 30.94 and Brailyn Tullous in the 800-meters in 2:43.52.

Tullous was third in the 400-meters in 1:13.25. Blivins was 3rd in the 800-meters in 2:46.80.

In fourth spot was Gracie Kinsey in the 400-mneters with 1:16.20. Lyla Pankey was fifth in the 200-meters in 32.60 and Maichelle Barron fifth in the 800-meters in 2:58.67 as was Katherine Avalos in the 1,600-meters with a 7:06.34 time.
