The Jacksboro 7th grade football team will head into district play unbeaten after wins over Eastland and Breckenridge.
The Tigers outlasted Eastland 14-8 in its season opener Sept. 27. Jacksboro got the lead early when Jackson McComis capped off a nice drive by diving in from the one-yard line. Lando Belcher found a wide open Tyler Mitchell for the 2 point conversion to make the score 8-0.
The Mavericks tied the score and the two squads traded punches and punts until late in the fourth quarter. The Tigers jumped on a bad snap on fourth down to give themselves great field position.
On the ensuing drive, Belcher picked up a fumbled snap and weaved his way to paydirt from eight yards out. A couple of fine defensive plays by Kasey Ray Swan and Jett Davenport put Eastland in a 3rd and long situation.
