Jacksboro SB qualifies for playoffs

Girls to face Henrietta; details to follow

GRAHAM – Offense wins games ... and gets you playoff berths too.

Fighting for its first softball playoff berth in seven years, Jacksboro gunned for its second win of the year over Breckenridge. The Lady Bucks took an early lead but the Tigerettes broke free with a middle-inning uprising and rolled to a 10-2 win in a District 7-3A play-in game.

Jacksboro and Breckenridge had split their previous two games, each winning convincingly at home. Tigerette Coach John Bennett said two things were key in the win.

“Offense,” Bennett said via text. “We had 16 hits.”

Sophomore Alex Holman led the charge offensively with four hits and in the pitching circle with 10Ks. Holman allowed just four hits and the Tigerettes took advantage of seven Lady Buck miscues.

Breckenridge led 1-0 after one, however, but Jacksboro got the run back in the top of the second. A three-run third for the Tigerettes was met by a single Breckenridge run for a 4-2 lead after three. Jacksboro added single runs in the fourth and sixth and four runs in the fifth to take control.

Jaci Gann had three hits and freshman Teagan Reynolds had two hits to lead the charge.

The Tigerettes will face Henrietta, which came out on top of a three-way tie for first in District 8-3A. No playoff info was available as of yet.
