Jacksboro goes 0-3 in Alvord Tourney

ALVORD – After the Tigers’ first game with Pantego Christian got rained out here last weekend, the Purple had a winless weekend here, including a 13-3 setback by the hosts Saturday morning.

Jacksboro threatened in the first. Cody Frie was hit by a pitch and Taber Dunn beaten out an infield single.the pair were left in scoring position as the next three hitters struck out.

Alvord struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, using a hit and a pair of Tiger miscues before the squad stranded the bases full.

The Bulldogs added four second innings runs with two hits and a miscue before jacksboro got on the run in the third.

Frie opened with a walk and moved to second on a pickoff attempt gone bad. Dunn brought the run home with a groundout. The next two hitters were retired to prevent further damage.

Alvord broke things open with a seven-run third. Jacksboro come through with a pair of runs in the fourth.

Consecutive walks to Aaron Harmonson, Payton Smith and Chris Wiggins loaded the sacks to get things rolling. Paul Shackelford singled home Harmonson with Frie’s two-out walk plating Smith. A groundout ended the game on time limit.
