Four quarters is a long time to try and play a complete football game.

In the eyes of Jacksboro Coach Brannon Rodgers, his Tigers had yet to play a complete four quarters this year, despite an impressive 4-2 record heading into Friday’s District 7-3A game with Dublin. The Tigers may have put together their most impressive 48 minutes of the season Friday, putting up 494 yards offense and holding the visitors to 266 in a 47-7 win at Tiger Stadium.

Jacksboro goes to 2-0 in district and 5-2 overall while Dublin falls to 0-2 and 1-5. Rodgers said the squad got off to a quick start and never let its first turnover rattle them.

Jacksboro jumped out to a 21-0 lead after one, scoring on its initial driven a 17-yard run by Landon Davenport who cutright and headed to the end zone.. After a Tiger fumble was recovered by Dublin, Jordan Yount intercepted a Lion pass three plays later and the Tigers went up 21-0 on Davenport’s 23-yard run. Baylor Laake’s touchdown jaunt extended the lead late in the first.

Davenport added a third first half touchdown with a 4-yard run. Dublin had its best first half series midway through the second quarter, but on fourth down Davenport picked off a pass in the red zone and Jacksboro moved out to the 20.

Edwin Salazar moved the ball the final 25 steps on the 80-yard drive, including the four-yard score, for a 34-0 lead with just under two minutes to go in the first half.

Dublin avoided the shutout with an 11-yard pass from Chris Teten to Cooper Hubble. On the following kickoff Davenport went up the gut for a 55-yard jaunt. After a Dublin punt, Domanik Hammond took the ensuing punt 53 yards to pay dirt to end the scoring.

The Lions had a chance to get back on the board but were stopped on fourth down inside the five. And Jacksboro ran out the clock.

The Tigers hit the road Friday evening for a 7 p.m. game in Eastland, which beat Comanche 31-17 to also go to to 2-0 in district.
