WICHITA FALLS – Tuesday night’s weather outside City View’s Mustang Gym left a lot to be desired with just a flat nasty vibe to it .Jacksboro’s Varsity Tigerettes opted to stay “outside” and play anyway.

The visitors made the 57-mile trek a successful one, banging home 10 three-pointers from all over the court in a 59-33 victory over City View.

Jacksboro is now 7-4 overall and 1-0 n the loop while City View slips to 0-7 and 0-1. Jacksboro Coach Kyle Wood was unavailable for comment after the game.

Youth was served on both ends of the court, as City View started three freshmen and Jacksboro two. Freshman Kylie Tullous got the visitors off on the right foot with a pair of inside baskets for a 4-0 lead less than 1:45 into the contest.

City View would tie the game a minute later at the free throw line. City View would tie the game with its first hoop at six only two have the first of the threes from Jaci Gann break the tie for good followed by an Alex Holman bomb late in the quarter as Jacksboro led 12-6 after one.

Part of the issue with City View is their lack of shots due to some good Jacksboro defense. The Tigerettes allowed just six first half shots.

Holman hit a pair from beyond the arc sandwiched around a Gann three-pointer as the lead ballooned into double figures three minutes into the second at 21-7. Jacksboro was able to extend its lead up to 19 on a Hadlee Richardson hoop and Brynn Pardue three.

City View had just one shot in the first five minutes and change before getting back on the board to end a seven-minute scoreless string. Junior Traci Berend closed out the half strong for the Purple, converting from both inside and out, as the Tigerettes led 35-12 at the break.

The Tigerettes were able to do what they wanted with City View in the second half but the Lady Mustangs were much more aggressive to start the second half. Jacksboro led by as many as 24 but City View cut that down to 16 due to a more running and gunning style of offense and Jacksboro being whistled for defensive fouls.

Jacksboro began to advance their lead once again as buckets from Berend, Harlee Richardson and Holman capped an off shooting frame for the Purple (6-19) but still had the Tigerettes in command 51-27 heating into the final quarter.

Things went from bad to worse for jacksboro shooting wise as Gann’s bucket was the only make among the first 13 shots for the Tigerettes. Freshman Avery Bennett converted from way outside to end the shooting from the field and close a 2-14 shooting fourth frame.

Jacksboro was led by three in double figures. Holman and Berend each had 13 points with Tullous adding 10. City View was led by Presley Maples with 9 tallies.
