Fields of Faith returned to Newton Field Wednesday night. Graham High School hosted the
2020 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Fields of Faith which brought students from area schools together to listen to Christian music and hear testimony from their peers.
Over 100 from Albany, Breckenridge, Bryson, Mineral Wells, Newcastle, Olney, Perrin-Whitt and Weatherford sat in the visitor's stands this year while students from Graham sat on the home side. The event was livestreamed on Facebook this year for students who could not attend.
Jaden Jacoba, Olney, was the first student speaker of the night. She spoke on returning to her faith after struggling emotionally over the summer. Kamryn Staggs, Perrin-Whitt, read her favorite bible verse, 1 Timothy 4:12. Staggs said it was relatable to her as a coach's child.
Salvador Mendez, Graham, read from John 16:33. Mendez gave a motivational message telling his peers that they are never alone. Amy Burch, Newcastle, was the final student speaker of the night. Burch read Mark 4:38 and told a story from the Book of Job. She spoke on her struggles in faith in the loss of a friend. Kenny Rawls from First Baptist Church in Hamlin gave a sermon to close out the night.
The event was led by Coach Paul Johnston and musical entertainment was provided by the Nick Gainey Worship Band.
“We felt it was so important to hold Fields of Faith Graham live this year during these difficult times to allow students to meet together and have an opportunity to respond by taking the next step in their relationship with God,” said Big Country FCA East Board member Jimmy Guinn.
