Early lead means nothing as Tigers carted off by Holliday

Wed, 01/06/2021 - 5:00 am

After a tough loss in the District 7-3A opener at Bowie three days before, Jacksboro’s boys hoopsters came home to face Holliday, which has always given the Tigers a game fight.

Jacksboro got out to a quick start on the visitors like they did in their last meeting during the Tiger Tournament in 2019. The Tigers led at halftime but a big third quarter for the Eagles enabled the squad to come from behind and hold on to post a 50-47 win.

Jacksboro is now 4-3.

Jacksboro led 17-8 after one with each team scoring 12 second quarter points for a 29-20 Tiger lead at the half.

Holliday more than equaled its first half offensive with a 24-pointed third quarter while holding the Tigers to six points.

Each team them scored 12 points in the fourth to account for the final margin.

Dylan Valles had 15 points, including three threes. Rylan Chalmers had 12 points. Landon Davenport and Jordan Yount each had seven points. Sophomore Paul Shackelford had six points.

The boys traveled to Breckenridge Tuesday and were off Friday.
