It’s that time of year where many a Texas mind and heart begin thinking about high school football.

In that mindset, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has hit the streets in most areas. With two-a-days beginning Aug.1, here’s a snapshot of what the famed magazine has to say about Jack County teams.

Jacksboro

Coach: Casey Hubble. Lettermen 18 returning, eight lost. Starters returning: nine offensive, nine defensive from a 5-5 bi-district finalist/3-2 in district.

Players to watch: QB/DB Lando Belcher (5-10, 160, 4.8), WR/ DB Kaleem Howard (5- 11, 170, 4.5), DB Paul Shackelford, WR/DB Cannon Valenzuela, QB/DB Garrett Hubble, WR?DB Ryder Jackson, RBDL Jett Davenport, LB Jackson McComis, RB Baylor Laake.

2022 notes: Jacksboro’s secondary is going to be dripping with talent with no less than seven players that could see plenty of action this fall in a 4-3 defense. QB/DB Belcher has a big arm and WR/ DB Howard can be used as a weapon both with the passing attack and in the ground game.

Perrin

Coach: Jay Johnson. Lettermen: 17 returning, five lost. Starters returning: three offensive, three defensive from a 3-7 team/1-2 district.

2022 notes: DL Trammell was an all-district selection as a junior and gives Perrin-Whitt size up front. This will be a young team; there may be growing pains early.

Bryson

Coach: Bill Reed. Lettermen: 10 returning, 2 lost. Starters returning: four offensive, six defensive from a 2-8 squad/0-3 in district.

Players to watch: ATH Tyler Cotter (6- 0, 210), RB/DB Chance Hand 5-10, 130, OL Isaiah Garcia (6-0, 250), OL/DL Miguel Ramirez (6-0, 205), SB/DB Layton Perez (5-9, 135), RB/DB Jameson Pierce, QB/DL Evan Ford, QB Gavin Guess.

2022 Notes: This year will be all about growth and development for the Cowboys as they return 10 starters, most of which are sophomores

Two-a-day workouts for all three schools begin Aug. 1. Scrimmages for the squads will begin the week of Aug. 12-13 and Aug. 18- 19 with games for the schools beginning Friday, Aug. 26
