The Jacksboro Tigers football program received high marks in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2025 season preview.

One of those marks was naming Tigers quarterback Wyatt Gavit Preseason Offensive MVP.

That wasn’t a surprise for Tiger head coach Casey Hubble, who expressed admirable qualities in regards to Gavit seeing him grow through the football program at Jacksboro High School.

“He has tremendous leadership skills, he works really hard, very competitive and a self driven athlete,” Hubble said.

Hubble said when Gavit first entered the football program at Jacksboro as a freshman, he was seen as more of a “bruiser” who could run the ball and punish defenders while doing it.

Over the years, Hubble said that while Gavit still possesses that ability, his evolution in the passing game to become a real dual threat quarterback is what makes him dangerous on the field.

Last season, Gavit put together quite the campaign. The rising senior put together a phenomenal season racking up 3,667 passing yards while throwing for 45 touchdowns to just eight interceptions.

On top of this, Gavit rushed for an additional 586 yards. All this added to his resume was enough for Gavit to be named a first team all state and district player.

Eventually, the individual accomplishments rack up naturally, but in order for the team to go far with Gavit at the helm, Hubble once again emphasized the importance of team effort.
