Cowgirls sweep past Olney Lady Cubs

OLNEY – There are certain nights where coaches have a chance to experiment with lineups and to see what works best.

Such was the case Tuesday evening where visiting Bryson took some looks at their front row to see how it looked. It mattered little as the Cowgirls took a 25-8, 25-8, 25-7 win over the Lady Cubs.

Bryson coach Kim Hauger said looking at junior Allie Orr in the front row may pay dividends down the stretch and into the postseason.

“That was big for us being able to have her in the front row,” Hauger offered following the 48-minute match. “It gives us more options.”

Bryson had a strong serving night against Olney. Part of that was due to working on it in practice.

“We push serving in practice,” Hauger said. “We put the girls in pressure serving situations and it works.”

Olney had just one lead in the match, getting out to a 2-0 lead in game three. Bryson broke serve and used a Tracy Hauger pair and a quartet of Riley Valliant points to go up 10-4. Still, it was Emery Fisher who had the eight point serving string to take a 19-6 lead. The Cowgirls broke serve one last time and then had senior Windsor Godfrey finish the job, aided by a Valliant kill.
