Cowgirls sweep past Lady Pirates

Tue, 08/31/2021 - 5:24 pm

PERRIN – Bryson’s volleyball team is learning in the early weeks of the season, developing those skills in the Krum Tournament last month and furthering that in a three-game sweep of county rival Perrin Aug. 24, 25-6, 25-9, 25-17. Bryson coach Kim Hauger said her team started turning the corner in that regard last weekend.

“We started communicating better and I reminded them in the locker room to communicate,” Hauger said. “We didn’t have a lot of balls hit the floor tonight which was a problem earlier because we weren’t communicating.”

Junior Tracy Hauger got the Cowgirls off on the right foot with an eight-point serving run to open the contest. Two aces and a Lady Pirate squad that seemed befuddled early forced Perrin coach Rebekah Bland into a timeout.

The Lady Pirates did not have a serving point in the opener. Hanna Perez and Emery Fisher came through with serving deuces, each aided from front court work by Riley Valliant and Adi Louder as the lead ballooned into double figures.

A Traci Berend kill set the table for the senior’s pair of serving tallies which forced another Perrin respite down 18-3. Pairs of tallies from Windsor Godfrey and Hauger, who had the final nail in the coffin put home by Louder, ended the game.
