Cowgirls knock Poolville from unbeatens

Thu, 10/04/2018 - 11:29 am

POOLVILLE – Injuries can prove detrimental to what a team wants to do.

In the District 11-A volleyball opener between Bryson and Poolville Sept. 8, Cowgirl senior hitter Sydney Davidson was coming off an injury. The visiting  Lady Monarchs were able to take advantage and posted a four-game win.

Tuesday night, Davidson was back to her old self, laying down kills and blocks with ease and efficiency. Poolville held tough and even forced a fourth game before Bryson pulled out a tough 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 27-25 win.

Bryson is now 5-2 in district while Poolville drops from the unbeatens at 6-1. Cowgirl Coach Chelsea Kincaid said Davidson at full strength is a force to be reckoned with.

“We just had to wait for the injury to heal,” Kincaid said following the 1:47 match. “Sydney is hard to stop once she gets rolling.”

Bryson as a whole came out firing, a five-point string from Brinkley Richardson, helped by a block and a kill from Davidson put the visitors up 6-2. After a Davidson dink broke serve, Kayleigh Pippin’s six-point run, with two blocks and a kill from Davidson, extended the lead to 13-4.
