Cowboys fall to Midway
BRYSON – Cowboy basketball players wasted little time hitting the court after football season, hosting Midway in its opener Nov. 11.
The Falcons, which knocked Bryson out of the playoffs last year, got out to a quick start and ended up with a 77-37 win. Midway jumped out to a 19-9 lead with Cash Bowen leading Bryson with three points with Jameson Pierce, Caleb Allen, and Tyler Cotter adding two each.
Bryson had its highest scoring quarter in the second with 12 points. Cotter had five and Bowen three while Pierce and fellow sophomore Evan Ford adding two each. The visitors had 29, however, to take a 48-21 lead at the half.
Ford led the way in the third with six points with Bowen adding three and junior Chance Hand two more. Midway extended its lead to 35, 67-32 to close the frame.
Bryson had just five points in the fourth with Pierce and Allen adding two each and Bowen contributing a free throw.
Bowen had 10 points and Ford eight to pace the Cowboys.
Bryson opens play in the Perrin Tournament tomorrow Thursday, Nov. 17, with a 9:50 a.m. game against Perrin’s JV.
The Cowgirls will follow the Cowboys immediately with an 11:10 a.m. game versus Victory Christian.
