Cowboys boot Texoma Christian, 56-6

BRYSON – A change in opponents this week after Knox City had a COVID incident allowed Bryson to stay at home vs. Texoma Christian.

The Cowboys picked up their second straight win with a 56-6 win over the visitors, based out of Sherman. Bryson is now 3-2 in 2020.

The ‘Pokes led 14-0 after one and extended the lead to 42-6 at the half. Single touchdowns in the final two quarters enabled an early end to the night because of the 45-point mercy rule.

Landon Stephens led the squad passing, converting 12-13 passes for 178 yards and two scores. Conner Huffman had an 18-yard TD pass, his only completion and Marcos Espinoza also completed a pass for 35 yards.

Huffman had a great night offensively, rushing for two scores and 107 yards on four carries while also catching four passes for 91 yards and another score. Espinoza rushed four times for 34 yards and a score while Stephens had five rushes for 19 steps.

Jacob Justus had three catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Ragen Register had a a 20-yard reception, Espinoza a 17-yard reception and Tyce Reeves an 18- yard catch.

Defensively, Register led the charge with 10 tackles, Zander Tinney added another eight with Reeves, Espinoza and Stephens coming through with seven each.
