Every year things change at a number of high schools. Coaches come and go and new coaches come into replace them.
The first of those changes came about Thursday night when Bryson AD/Head Football Coach/Assistant Principal announced he was moving into administration to tae a position as principal at Forestburg School outside Bowie.
“Many people have been asking where we are headed, and I am excited to announce that I have accepted the position as Principal for Forestburg School,” Briles said in an email last week. “ I will be able to continue coaching in some capacity, and that is what I was hoping to be able to do.”
Briles is like many coaches who hoped to go into administration and is following that dream.Taking the job in Forestburg “is the perfect opportunity to help me decide if upper administration is something I really want to explore further.”
Briles said he and his family “loved our time here in Bryson, and will miss the relationships we have built over the past 6 years. I am excited for the step back from the athletic director role and the duties that entails, so that I can enjoy watching my kids as they enter such a fun and exciting time during their own school athletic careers,” Briles said.
Taking over for Briles in the athletic director position is Slade Egan, the school’s boys basketball and baseball coach. In a post on Facebook, Egan explained “I have been extremely blessed to work here with some great people the last two years. I love these kids and this community and I am honored to play a role in their lives.”
Both coaches have been nothing but helpful and willing to work with me whenever I’ve had an issue. Best of luck to both.
Onto other things:
Softball and baseball seasons have begun, in the practice realm anyway. Jacksboro’s girls are supposed to have their first tournament this coming weekend but with 8-10 inches of snow expected to arrive last weekend and us not supposed to get above freezing until today those odds aren’t looking real good.
Hope springs eternal, though.
That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading.
See y’all down the road.
