Bryson routs Lingleville

BRYSON – Early on in any season, it’s always a good idea to see all the players coming to play every night out.

Such was the case Aug. 18 as Bryson’s varsity volleyballers faced off against visiting Lingleville and put together a team effort in a 25-13, 25-10, 25-17 win over the visiting lady Cardinals.Bryson Coach Kim Hauger said her team was working very well with their hands during the match and the results showed.”We were able to put the balls down and looked very fluid out there, which was mice to see,” Hauger said.

Sophomore Tracy Hauger’s point, thrown down by classmate Riley Valliant’s block gave Bryson a 2-1 lead in the opener. Kills by Windsor Godfrey helped break serve for the Cowgirls.

Emery Fisher’s serving day got started with a pair as the lead doubled to 11-7. It would get much better but not before a four-point skein from Tracy Hauger to go up 18-10. Pairs from Valiant and Tracy Hauger would close out game one in just 15 minutes.

Hauger put Bryson up 2-0 in game two but a bBRoken serve and a four-point string by LinglevilleKills by Valliant and Allie Orr sandwiched around a Valliant block overtook Lingleville’s 2-0 lead early in game three. Valliant’s pair opened game threak in serve and four-point run by the Lady Cardinals put the visitors up 5-2. Valliant rolled off three straight to help Bryson retake the lead at 7-6. Valliant broke a serve with a kill to set the table for Rachel Robinson’s three-pointer to extend the lead to four.

Emery Fisher’s 12-point string set up game point up 24-9 as the Cowgirls had five aces in the string also Robinson kill kept the drive alive.

Valliant broke serve and then Hauger served up three straight for a 4-2 lead in game three. Valliant served up a pair for an 8-4 lead.

Orr broke serve with a kill for a 10-6 with Fisjher rolling off four straight to double the lead at 14-6. Lingleville cut the deficit back to four. The squads traded single points as Bryson got some front court work from Victoria Goodman, Valliant and Rachel Robinson.

Godfrey and Valliant’s front court work helped Robinson’s serving set up match point up 24-17 to hang on to win the match in 56 minutes.
