Bryson FB beats Throckmorton, falls to Strawn

THROCKMORTON – A 31-point 3rd quarter broke open a close road game for Bryson’s Cowboys Sept. 4 and helped the squad even its non-district record at 1-1 with a 69-54 victory.

Bryson scored 16 points in the first and added 14 in the second. After more than equallling their first half out put in the third quarter, Bryson scored an insurance score in the fourth stanza.

The Cowboys put up 532 yards in the process. Senior quarterback Landon Stephens was 12- 15 passing for 183 yards and four scores. Marcos Espinoza was 1-2 for five yards.

Stephens had the fiveyard grab. Zander Tinney had two catches, both for touchdowns, for 35 steps. Espinoza hd two more grabs for 50 yards. Reeves had three grabs for 22 yards. Conner Huffman led the charge with three grabs for 69steps.

Defensively, Reeves had 11 tackles, Stephens added kin, Espinoza eight, Register seven and Tinney five.

Bryson hosted Strawn this past Friday and let a 24-point first quarter by the ‘Hounds dictate the game in a 44-16 loss. Bryson picked up 106 total yards of offense.

The Cowboys defense shutout Strawn in the second quarter. Bryson would score touchdowns in the third and fourth frames while Strawn matched them point wise but it wasn’t enough.

Passing Stephens and Espinoza combined for 9-14 passing and 74 yards. Espinoza fired a touchdown toss to Stephens, who was also 2-24 receiving. Grayson Allen was 3-42 receiving while Tyce Reeves had two receptions for eight yards.

Rushing, Espinoza rushed for 17 yards on eight totes. Zander Tinner had two carries for five yards with Ragen Register getting one carry for three yards.

Defensively, Stephens had 16 tackles, Espinoza added 15, Tinney 14, Reeves 13 and Register 11. Bryson hits the road for Knox City Friday.
