The Bryson Cowgirls defeated the Graford Lady Rabbits at home on Tuesday, winning in straight sets to improve to 2-1 in district, 25-19, 25-22, 25-15.

The Cowgirls came out aggressive early, winning their first three points off of kills, with two coming from senior Brinkley Richardson. The points kept coming after that, with Bryson having 15 kills in the set to grab a 25-19 win and an early 1-0 match lead.

“My front row did an excellent job,” Bryson Coach Kim Hauger said. “We hit the ball well and defensively, we were just on. We had a lot of toughness, mental and physical.”

The mental toughness came into question in the second set, when Bryson fell down by six points early. However, the Cowgirls rebounded, eventually tying it up at 16-16 before two aces from Bryson’s Rachel Robinson swung the momentum on Bryson’s side to an eventual 25-22 win.

“I’m proud of how my girls handled that second set,” Hauger said. “It’s not easy being down early, when they have 10 points and we are still in single digits, but to come back and fight our way to the victory is huge for us.”
