SAINT JO – Bryson has wasted little time in hitting the hardwood after a successful volleyball season.

Coach Emily Chenault says her players have had just three practices, forcing many of the adjustments that would be done during workouts to get done in games. Such was the case Saturday as the Cowgirls continued to make adjustments on the fly in handling the hostesses 50-11.

The scenario of doing things on the fly has worked well, as Bryson went to 5-1 with the win and handed the Lady Panthers (2-1) their first loss of the season. That is one of the things the first-year mentor likes about her squad.

“I like the fact that they’re coachable,” Chenault offered. “”With only three practices we’ve had to implement things literally at games.

Saint Jo opened with a trapping defense that three Bryson very briefly. Getting around the trap worked wonders as the squad missed its first four shots as Allie Orr put the Cowgirls on the board with the first points two minutes in.

Bryson’s defense forced the hostesses to miss all eight first quarter shots, a long free throw mid quarter keeping the squad off the schneide. Bryson went four minutes where it took just one shot. Junior Tracy hanger ended the drought with a steal and laying for a 4-1 lead.
