BRYSON – With medical conditions causing sickness around sports teams, even if it’s not COVID, there has been little opportunity for teams to practice and play in a normal setting.

Bryson has had very few opps to do that, which has forced to get the team a bit rusty in recent days. The Cowboys have been ablate resound from some of that, coming back from a double digit defeisict in the opening seconds Dec. 29 to post a 62-51 over visiting Olney.

The Cubs used three three -pointers too take an 11-2 lead in the first quarter. Bryson senior Zander Ti nney had a pair of buckets with Grayson Allen converting from outside as the Cubs, who were 610 shooting in the first, found themselves up just one, 14-13 after one.

Tinney moved inside for bucket to give Bryson a 15-14 lead. The lead fluctuated back and forth. With Stephens and Tinney doing much of the scoring, Allen and Ethan Smith provided buckets down the stretch.of the half.

Stephens closed the half with a flourish and a pair of buckets. Still, Olney led 28-25 at the half.

Olney picked up a pair of buckets in the third to lead by five midway through the third.

And this point, Landon Stephens had had enough and got Tinney together to do what the pair had done all year: score, going up 35- 33 wit 4:36 left in the half. Stephens boosted the lead to six with 3:45 left.

Olney once again refused to go away getting back within one, 43-42. Bryson had just three shots in a four-minute span shell of the third quarter.

Bryson would wind up leading 45-42 heading into the final.What aided the group was Smith, who got some accolades from Coach Slade Egan.

“Ethan has some along and helped us a bunch, no doubt about it., Egan said. “These kids are finally starting to bind us a group and this is the time to do it with district coming up soon.

Olney tied the game at 45 about a minute into the fourth quarter. Stephens had a three-pointer and a three-point play to go up 51-45. Buckets from Ragen Register and Smith moved the lead into double figures midway through the fourth.

Still, Bryson missed some free throws down the stretch to make things interesting for a spell.

’Stephens had 24 points. Tinney tossed in 15 and Smith 13.
