Bryson athletes awarded for success

BRYSON – Approximately 200 people filled the Bryson practice gym May 3 to see their families and friends honored for a solid school year in athletics.

The 75-minute affair was sponsored by the Bryson Athletic Booster Club. Shelly Ford Tinney with the club opened by giving the athletes something to consider.

“The journey of being an athlete with be gone in the blink of an eye,” Tinney explained.

After the meal, a number of participation certificates were given out along with the senior plaques.

Athletic Director Slade Egan recognized the state qualifiers, including Zander Tinney for being hamed honorable mention All-State in basketball.Seniors TJ Imotichey and Ethan Smith also qualified for this weekend’s State Track meet in both the pole vault and discus, respectively.

Egan said Imotichey broke the school record at the district meet with a throw of 147'6".

At the end of the banquet were the Superlative awards. Sophomore Tracy Hauger defended her title as Miss Hustle. Leadership Award, given to one boy and gone girl went to Imotichey and Brooke Bennett. The Fighting Heart Award went to Grayson Allen with the Outstanding Athletesof the Year were senior Landon Stephens and junior Windsor Godfrey.

Egan said it was a shame to have to say goodbye to one athlete while another one still has a year remaining.
