Brock’s volleyball team has a group of dads, known as the linemen,  supporting the team and watching the backline of the gym on whatever side of the net the Lady Eagles were on.

The girls didn’t need the help as the third-ranked squad came into Tiger Gym Friday afternoon and defeated the Tigerettes 25-14, 25-15, 25-14.

With the setback, Jacksboro drops to 1-8 with the setback while Brock goes to 8-1.

Jacksboro had difficulty getting past the teens in the match, but was able to keep the games reasonably close until that point. Brock went up 4-0 in the opener and 6-0 in the last two games before Jacksboro came back to make things interesting.

In game one, a pair of Alex Holman points tied the game at six before the Lady Eagles pulled away by five. Stefy Piedra’s point cut the deficit to four.

Jacksboro later break serve and used a Traci Berend point, put home by a Holman kill to get within 14-19 but a broken serve and five straight by Brock ended game one.

A Baylee Thompson kill got the Tigerettes on the scoreboard in game two. Jacksboro recovered as it did in game one, aided by some good front court work from a pair of Morgyn Green kills and a pair of Thompson blocks.

Those helped Hadlee Richardson serve up tallies to get within 10-16 after Brock had led by as many as 10. Three serving points from Green, aided by a Holman kill, forced Brock’s only timeout of the match as the Tigerettes were within 14-17. Again, Brock had an answer and the Tigerettes would get just one more point, with Thompson’s kill breaking serve.

Another Thompson kill kept Brock from extending its 6-0 lead in the finale. Holman came through with three points after Brock had again taken an early double digit lead to get within six at 7-13. Unfortunately, the Purple would get no closer than six as Brock put away the match.

Jacksboro traveled to Tolar Tuesday (no results as of press time) and hosts Paradise in a Saturday match.
