Baseball time is here

Wed, 03/03/2021 - 5:00 am

If we could just find some happy middle ground.

We go from below zero to temps in the 80s in five days then back into the 40s with rain. Yet we can’t figure out why everyone’s sick.

It was just great being able to see ball hit bat once again as HS baseball fired up last week in Alvord. I still haven’t seen any softball this weekend for various reasons but it’s a long season.

The baseball team had four games planned but only got to play three due to some rain that moved in and wouldn’t leave Thursday afternoon. Jacksboro played two games Friday meaning an early wakeup call both Friday and Saturday mornings.

I was able to take the wife with me Saturday but not to spend time with her hubby. No, this was strictly fun trip north for her.

She decided since I was heading north she’d tag along and go with me to the casino just northwest of Bowie. Hey she likes gaming as much as the next person, just not in the way you’d think. I’ll take her company any way I can get it.

We’re coming up on the anniversary that all of us would like to forget namely where COVID shut all of us down for the better part of five months.

I was in Archer City at a tournament when NCAA conference tournaments started being cancelled. At that point, it was over and life started being less than normal.

You keep hearing phrases like the new normal and get used to it, it ain’t gonna change. That’s not a good thing at all.

I want to get back to the old normal, where you went to the concert hall and rocked with your family and friends at the amphitheater. Where you hung with 40,000 of your closest friends at the ball game and waited 20- 25 minutes for a hot dog while some idiot ordered for 10-12 of his family members while keeping track of three kids (Ugh).

Hopefully we’ll be getting back to the old normal sooner than later.

That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading.

See y’all down the road.
