The Jacksboro Tigers varsity basketball team took major strides in their second week of fall league basketball in Graham. The team went an undefeated 2-0 in their slate of games this past week.

Tigers head coach Alex Rodriguez believes that this first time in the fall league will provide valuable experience for them to build chemistry on the court as they advance closer to the regular season.

“Since I’ve been in Jacksboro we haven’t been in a position to play fall league,” Rodriguez said. “The benefits are definitely just getting our guys in the gym. Without this we would just be in the gym practicing against one another. It’s always great to compete against other guys.”

The Tigers’ first game of the night took place against Wichita Falls Christian. Both teams fought back and forth in the first half but things ended 23-23. Brayden Rockey continues to emerge as a leader for this team.

He was able to score at all levels around the rim and behind the arc for three. Rockey was also able to draw points at the free throw line.

Tyler Roberts also played a key role using his speed to score in transition.

Rockey continued his scoring barrage in the second half while others like Travis Mitchell and Aaron Allison joined the party to end things with a 40-33 final score.

Jacksboro’s final game of the night took place against the Olney Cubs.

Roberts started things off with a fastbreak layup to make it 2-0 Jacksboro. Rockey followed this up later with another fastbreak layup to make it 7-0 Tigers.

Mitchell got in on the fastbreak scoring pattern as well as Gio Aldada to make it 9-0. Roberts and Allison followed this up to make it 13-0.

Jacob Idell got in on the party as well and the team got up to a score of 23-0 before and the team eventually made it 31-3.

Idell and Rockey ended the half with a layup and a three to make it 34-5 at halftime. The Cubs tried their best but ultimately Jack’s aggressive shooting and tenacious rebounding led to a dominant victory.
