Thank you: Driving Tour

Driving Tour thanks

The Jack County Historical Driving Tour was once again a success! It was a perfect day to experience the history of Jack County. Thanks to everyone that bought a ticket!

None of this would have been possible without the efforts of all the members of the Jack County Historical Commission. I want to personally thank each of them – Ed Bonner, Frances Easter, Terry Ward, Robert Frie, Alinda Cox, Charles Bush, Susan Elmore and our sponsor – Mitchell Davenport, for all that you did to make this event possible.

And then there were the property owners and stewards of the land who graciously opened their property to the myriad of people who like all of us on the Historical Commission love history. A special ‘Thank You’ to Lance Whaley, Marlene Hughes, Ed Williams, Paula Williams and Leo Marley for allowing us access to their property and to experience firsthand where history took place.

A big thank you to each of the following sponsors as their support helped make this event a success! Bank of Jacksboro, Casa Grande Mexican Grill, Ciera Bank-Bryson, City of Jacksboro, Coker Funeral Home, Cotton’s Restaurant-Bryson, Dairy Land, DeWayne White Insurance, Discount Liquor-Bryson, Fenter Garage, Friends of Fort Richardson, Grable Oil, Green Frog Restaurant, Hackhill Ranch, Jack County Automotive, Jacksboro EDC, Jacksboro National Bank, Kevin Wolf Insurance, Legacy Bank and Smith Corner-Bryson.

A special thank you to Ted Davidson, Raylan Jolly, Ray Monroe and Darrell Williams for assisting in the preparation of our sites. Also a thank you to the entire staff at Fort Richardson for encouraging campers to attend the driving tour.

And finally a big thank you to our friends at the Jack County Museum – especially Linda Swan and Anna Fitzgerald for assisting in the sale of tickets and the distribution point for the CDs and maps for the tour. This year, as in years past, the Historical Commission coordinated our event with the Museum’s ‘Ghost Night at the Museum’.

For those who were unable to attend the Driving Tour we have CD’s available for sale ($10) at the Museum. The CD’s narrative makes history come alive as you drive our roads and listen to the narration describe events that occurred in our county.
