A sports weekend with the bride

Wed, 05/12/2021 - 5:00 am

Any time I get to spend with my wife is precious.

With me being gone about half of the nights due to the job which I enjoy, when we get to spend time together at home is great. When she announces Friday she needed to get out of the house and wanted to go across town with me to the Jacksboro baseball playoff games, I was pretty happy.

Heather is a big baseball fan but I’ve had to guide her through my favorite sports of hockey and some others. Anyway, we arrived at Williams Ballpark on the Weatherford College campus about 30 minutes before first pitch.

I found my digs for the next 4-5 hours (as it was a doubleheader, see rest of Sports for details). Heather watched attentively, rooting for the Tigers but doing her normal keeping to herself for the most part.

Between games, she went down to the concession stand and got us some refreshments. Heather’s not big on movement once she arrives home for the day.

It was kind of nice having Heather and I close by. The good bride likes to stay away when I’m at games, usually because she’s working at a job she enjoys.

When she does come with me, she would usually drop me off and go shopping at Fred’s or Shopko which no longer exist. This is the first time in the seven years I’ve been in town she’s gone to a road game with me.

I think Heather likes the time away from me. She gets to watch her crime TV where a guy dies in every episode of every program. Kind of a girl power sort of thing.

Anyway, she liked her time with me so much she decided to try it a second time up in Graham Saturday for the girls area round matchup with Merkel. I think she may have enjoyed it more (see the girl power comment).

Anyway, it was another chance to spend time with the Mrs., which is always a good time.

Now if I could only get her to sit in a gym or football stadium…

That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading. See y’all down the road.
