Spiller to run for House seat

David Spiller of Jacksboro has announced that he will seek the seat for House District 68 in the Texas House of Representatives that is to be vacated by Rep. Drew Springer after Saturday’s special election. Spiller is an attorney with the law firm of Spiller & Spiller in Jacksboro, has lived his entire life in Jack County, and is currently serving his 26th year as a Trustee of the Jacksboro Independent School District.

Spiller, a conservative Republican, states, “I look forward to advancing and defending the conservative principles, beliefs and values of the people of the district, and to providing experienced, knowledgeable and accessible representation that the citizens of this district deserve. I believe in supporting law enforcement and first responders, securing our border, protecting life, safeguarding second amendment rights, sufficiently funding public schools, cutting taxes, making government more efficient, promoting economic development and opening up businesses.”

Foundation, has practiced law for 34 years. He has been named a Top-Rated Lawyer in Texas, and is a Founding Member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. Spiller has a private law practice with his two sons, and previously practiced with his father and his brother. He also owns Spiller Title, believed to be the oldest family-owned title insurance company in the State of Texas, started by his great grandfather in 1888. Spiller has served as City Attorney for the City of Jacksboro for 33 years, and as General Counsel to the Jack County Hospital District for 30 years. He is also a Credentialed Advanced mediator, having mediated well over a thousand cases since 1997. Spiller is also a former Trustee of the Texas Association of School Boards.

Spiller lives in Jacksboro with his wife of 33 years, Ginger. He and Ginger have two sons, Mason and Reid, who are both attorneys in Jacksboro. Mason and his wife, Alex, have one son, Shepherd. Reid and his wife, Haley, are expecting a child. Spiller and his wife are members of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro.

House District 68 covers 22 counties, stretching 300 miles between Cooke and Crosby County, and 200 miles from Wheeler to Fisher County.
