Concession stands are an easy place to find this big fella during any sports season (well, except football where I’m usually rocking out in our fabulous press box).
I’ve been told I can always eat beforehand. I also have a couple of bucks in my wallet at halftime and like to help the kids out. I subscribe to the theory that if I can help a group of kids out when they need it, they’ll be more apt to do so when they get older.
I’m also told why can’t I eat at halftime. Hard to eat at halftime when you’re doing stats and then getting on the radio most nights.
Unfortunately, there’s a slim timeframe for me to eat: either the 20-30 minutes before the game or the 8-10 minutes between the varsity twin bills. In that case I need something I can wolf down quick.
My friends at Cowboys Gym had some tremendous ideas during volleyball season: sausage wraps and grilled cheese sandwiches. If you can’t gobble those down real quick, you’re not trying real hard.
The one Saturday I had sausage wrap, they event slapped a slice of cheese on the tortilla because I saw someone else have it done. It was great.
I can eat four sausage wraps in like two minutes. The same goes for grilled cheese.
Grilled cheese is also cost effective. I think $2 for a sandwich is a bit much but it is a fundraiser for different organizations. If booster clubs would get these quick to eat dinners, I guarantee you would sell more of those than the goto snack of popcorn, which I know in Jacksboro sells like water in the desert.
Anyway, I would just like to make a suggestion for those of us that need to eat on the road to start offering sausage wraps and grilled cheese. Unlike nachos and frito pie, which are very hard to eat quick and kind of messy, sausage wraps aren’t. I like to look good at games.
You can boil sausage in a pot of water and a grill costs around $20. Just saying.
Hope everyone is getting their Christmas shopping complete.Don’t forget my birthday is two weeks from Wednesday up in Bowie.
That’s about it for this week.As always, thanks for listening.
See y’all down the road.
