My new car is taking a beating

Wed, 05/05/2021 - 5:00 am

I had driven a 2016 Chevy Cruze for a long time.

When I first started, I drove a Saturn Vue which they don’t even make anymore. We’d picked that up a week before moving to California. It had been our lone car while living out in the O.C. for more than four years.

When we came back we tried to make it on one car but it didn’t happen. I kept the Vue but it eventually gave out after more than 150,000 miles in six years.

I wanted something that got good mileage, especially with my commute to Jacksboro daily and hitting the road constantly. I ended getting a 2016 Chevy Cruze the week before Christmas.

Those miles added up quickly between the commute and all the road games which could easily double the trip of a day going to Wichita Falls, Holliday, and Nocona. For two years, the return trip wasn’t as bad as three road trips were all within 20 minutes of the house which helps.

Several years of that will put 148,000 miles on a vehicle really quick. Heath er also began to get a little spooked of me being crammed into a little bitty car like the Cruze but still needing the good gas mileage.

I start looking for a new vehicle last Fall. I wanted something with room but with slamming mileage. I fell in love with the Nissan Rogue but was concerned with the mileage.

Come to find out it got significantly better mileage then the Cruze with more room. This is another no brainer.

I picked up the car on Veteran’s Day and have already put 15,574 miles on it because of some vacation trips, all the sports road trips and general life. I love my car which pulls 33 miles a gallon.

Hope it’s ready for a big May of road trips. Go Jacksboro and Perrin as we head down the playoff road.

That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading.

See y’all down the road.
