Cloudy and cool weather for the week in Post Oak

Fri, 04/28/2017 - 5:20 pm
In and Around Post Oak

This week has been cloudy and cool with only a small amount of rain. The grass and weeds are growing so fast I can’t keep them down.

The iris are still blooming. I have had so many pretty flowers in pink, yellow, white, bronze, blue and purple, I have really enjoyed them this year and will be sad when they are finished blooming.

My brother, Nathan came and visited me Easter. He planted some tomatoes and I planted okra seeds. My mother would be happy to know her children were planting a garden together.

She always loved to garden and I always helped with her garden.  It was nice to have my brother come help me.  If anyone needs tomato plants and I have had an abundance of little plants come up volunteer and would be happy to share.

This morning my mama cat came from across the road with a big rat in her mouth, her big kitten grabbed the rat and ran across the yard. He was just having the time of his life playing with the dead rat.  I hear there are an abundance of mice and rats this year.  I’m happy to be rid of all those rodents mama cat can kill.

Tuesday night the Post Oak Crime Stoppers met for a regular meeting. About 25 members attended. There was discussion on the cleanup of the Community Center. We are pleased with the look of the Community Center now.

The new windows, roof and siding sure make an old building that was built in 1909 look good. Many sermons, funerals, then quilt shows and family get to gathers have been held in the building. We are happy to have it for a Community Center.

Thursday the Busy Bees gathered to quilt on a quilt for Elsie Graham and one for Clydene Webb. Those attending were; Clydene Webb, Elsie and Maurice Graham, Nelda Hopkins, Eunice Frost, Helga Cross, and Wanda Davis. We enjoyed the day. It is always good to visit and quilt with friends.

The Bill Cypert family met in their home over the Easter weekend for a visit with the new grandbaby Aida Cypert who was born in Houston on Jan. 6  to James and Roshana Cypert.

Penny Cypert of Fort Worth visited also. They had a good visit and we know Aida had plenty of attention from grandpa Bill.

My Easter visitors were Nathan Scarber of Haslet, Sheila Schindler of Bowie and Brandin and Mitchel Davis of Troy.  Others in the community having Easter visitors were Debbie and James Logan and Traci and Ronnie Cafagna.

Nancy and Gary Conner recently took their grandchildren camping in the Wichita Mountains and then went camping last weekend with their camping club.

Thought for the week--Nothing is quite so annoying as to have someone go right on talking when you are interrupting.
