  • Being awesome (something I wouldn’t know anything about)

The sports fan in me is going nuts right now.

With my favorite sport hockey firing up this time last week, I became a little more grateful in my own watching. You see, I had some problems watching a game for work the night before.

At the JHS-Henrietta game, I went to find a place deep in the stands. That’s done for a couple of reasons:

• so the kids who don’t realize the stands aren’t a playground won’t be scarred for life for being told no.

• I find the higher I go there’s less of a chance of conversation. I used to enjoy conversation (and still do with the right folks.) The expression I get when I approach people (namely women) leads me to believe I need to find my spot and hunker down for the evening.

Anyway I was getting ready for a night of basketball when I walked in. I headed into the stands and realized something was dreadfully wrong.

I got five steps into the stands and could barely breathe. I have been having some breathing issues so I slowed down a bit. I finally got to where I wanted to be, sat down and needed about 30-45 seconds to get back to a normal breathing pace.

For some of our older patrons, that’s a normal part of life. For me, who normally has no problem getting to the top of the stands, this was an issue.

Out of fear of something happening, I didn’t move for the rest of the night, and headed downstairs after the twin bill sweep which wasn’t as bad. I talked to Coach Wood in the gym and went down to the locker room to Coach Bass.

Went to leave the gym and forgot it’s flat but uphill from the locker room. Took my time but it was still a struggle up to the concession stand.

Went to the doctor’s Thursday morning and they’re running a bunch of tests including a chest X-ray and a CT scan next week to find out. In the short term, if I could get a few prayers until we find out what’s going on, it’d be appreciated.

I’ll continue to watch my hockey (Let’s go Red Wings) and basketball. That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading it.

See y’all down the road.
