Army worms and more in Post Oak

Thu, 09/29/2016 - 3:46 pm
In and Around Post Oak

A small rain has just fallen on my yard this evening. We were needing a bit of moisture again. This summer we have become used to getting rain often. But we like having the moisture when the heat is scorching everything. Army worms have destroyed the grass in my yard and it just looks like hot summer weather dried it up.

Thursday the quilters met to work on a quilt for Gena Phillips. It is a beautiful friendship quilt that members of the Busy Bee pieced for Gena when she was ill in the early part of the year. She is improved now and able to meet with us again.

Thursday night members of the Crime Stoppers met for a good supper and to discuss the work that is to be done on the Community Center. We also had a report from the sheriff of Jack County. Plans were also made for the Thanksgiving Supper. The date was set for November 19. There will be more about this later.

Saturday morning Pam Parkinson, Clydene Webb, Sheila Schindler, Marilyn Scarber and I drove to Wichita Falls to the Red River Quilt Show. I love going to the quilt shows. We drove through Post Oak and on north on the dirt road to the intersection joining Prospect and Highway 148 because Highway 2127 was closed from Post Oak to the intersection on 148 for some repair. We drove on to Wichita Falls to the Red River Quilt show where we viewed some beautiful quilts and had a good time.

We also enjoyed the visit in the car as we drove up to Wichita Falls. We saw Nancy and Gary Conner there and some other friends to visit with.

Thought for the week — Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without. Have a good week.

We missed having the Busy Bee Show but will try to have it again next year.
