Weldon Smith

Tue, 07/06/2021 - 9:04 am

On April 5, 1945, the Smith family was complete with the addition of their baby boy, Weldon. From early childhood through these last few years, Weldon could be best described as ornery and mischievous at times but would always be available to help out his friends & family when called.

Upon graduating high school, he enlisted into the Air Force where he served our country for four years. During this time he gained mechanical skills that would serve him well upon his careers in refrigeration repair and within various roles in the oil & gas industry. In 2007 he was excited to hang up his hard hat as he retired from Targa Resources. The years following were spent with some travels and out at the lake.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janie Smith of Chico; sister Jewel Lewis of Weatherford; son James Smith & wife Brenda of El Paso; daughter Sarah Hahs & husband Braden of Rhome; son Tim Smith & wife Sarah of Dallas. He has 7 grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Weldon & Arminta Smith and sister Betty Lassiter and nephew Lee Turner Jr.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7 at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro.
