Vernie Ogle Middlebrooks

Vernie Ogle Middlebrooks, 94, passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 in Gainesville. She was born on Feb. 9, 1925, in Jacksboro to Willie Ogle and Stella (Dowdy) Ogle. 

Vernie was a graduate of Jacksboro High School and a lifelong member of The First Baptist Church in Jacksboro. On Dec 7, 1944, she married Robert Lee Middlebrooks in Jacksboro. Together they raised two children, Jean and Robert L. (Bobby). 

A homemaker most of her life, Vernie had many hobbies. She loved oil painting, fishing and hunting with her family, and helping her husband on the family farm. Vernie had many vegetable gardens throughout her life and loved canning. But most of all, caring for her family was her greatest joy. She also was part of a bowling league for many years in Jacksboro. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, Winnie Fay and brothers, Vernest Ogle (Vernie’s twin brother), Earnest Ogle, Odis Ogle, James Ogle, Louie Ogle, Bud Ogle, Virgil Ogle, Wilburn Lee Ogle, and Clide Ogle. 

She is survived by her son, Robert L. (Bobby) Middlebrooks and wife Della of Lindsay; daughter, Jean Holloway and husband Robert of Dayton, Texas. sister, Velma Clayton of Graham, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 

A visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at First Baptist Church in Jacksboro. A graveside service was also held Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Truce Cemetery 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to: Jack County Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 150 Jacksboro, Texas 76458
