Velma Lee Ogle Clayton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 23, in Graham.

A Viewing was held on Sunday, July 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home, Jacksboro. A Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, July 27 at Coker Funeral Home with burial following at Truce Cemetery.

Velma was born to William “Willie” Ogle and Stella Dowdy Ogle on May 25, 1932 in Truce, Texas. She married the love of her life, Earl Gant Clayton on June 3, 1950. Throughout her life, Velma worked several different jobs. She was floor monitor at Bogarts and later became a licensed nurses aid working in nursing homes caring for the elderly. She also loved to cook and was known by those around her for her amazing pies, sweet pickles and unforgettable turkey and dressing. She thoroughly enjoyed being outside in her yard tending to her flowers and fruit trees and was always excited to show off their beauty. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her 4 boys. Velma was a member of the Church of Christ here in Jacksboro.

Velma is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Jerry and Jimmy Clayton; granddaughter, Mitzi Clayton Janway; and Great granddaughter, Kourtland Curd; siblings, Ernest, Odis, Virgil, James, Johnny Louie, Vernest, Vernie Middlebrooks, Clide, Winnie Fae and Wilburn.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are sons, Mickey Clayton and wife Clarissa of Sulphur Springs, Randy Clayton and wife Mary of Graham; grandchildren, Jeremy Clayton, Angel Clayton, Lon Werner, Mindy Hicks, Bo Clayton, Lee Clayton, Travis Clayton, Lacey Loftis, Jason Clayton and Casey Janway; along with 14 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
