Sarah Lee Rumage was born Sarah Lee Falkinburg on Dec. 16, 1932 to Ernest Joseph Falkinburg and Willah Wave Marvin. She was the youngest sister to her siblings, Adah Grace Falkinburg McCoy, Edward Falkinburg, Robert Falkinburg, and Joan Falkinburg Swaney. Sarah married the love of her life, Claude McCalister Rumage, Jr. on Nov. 10, 1952. They were happily married until Junior’s death in 2008.

Aunt Sarah, as she was known to many, was a wonderful lady who was full of life. She had a feisty side to her that we all loved. Other words to describe her would be independent, hard working, honest, generous, and, above all, loving. She spent the majority of her childhood in Graham, studied at Texas Tech University, was a longtime bookkeeper for Breech Leatherwood in Jacksboro, owned Norma’s Dress Shop in Jacksboro, worked the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, was a former president of the Jack County Hospital Auxiliary, and worked for her dear friend, Rusty Porter, at City Cash Grocery Store for many years.

She worked at various other locations during her early years in Jacksboro and was involved in many community organizations. She attended First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, and, most of all, was a loving wife to Junior.

Sarah spent a lot of her spare time cooking. She made awesome hot sauce, fudge and cookies. She would often take food to healthcare workers at the hospital, people who were sick, and especially to her friends and family. She was always there for you, whether to share a laugh, a hug, or simply a smile.

Sarah passed away on Sept. 26, and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Junior, and her siblings, Adah Grace, Edward, Robert, and Joan. She is survived by a host of family and friends.

Graveside services were held at Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Memorials may be given to Concerned Citizens, 400 East Pine Street, Jacksboro, Texas or First Baptist Church, 200 North Knox Street, Jacksboro, Texas 76458.

Sarah Lee Rumage, you were a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing you!
