Roy Ronald “Butch” Blakley

Tue, 03/31/2020 - 2:28 pm

The story of Roy Ronald “Butch” Blakley began in Altus, Okla. on Oct. 23, 1944.  Roy was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Roy was born to Roy and Erma Allsup Blakley. Roy grew up in Altus with siblings Terry, Fairlene, Charlotte, Ann, Jan and Randy.

In Altus, at the age of 14, Roy met the love of his life Betty Snow and married her on Aug. 18, 1961. They remained happily married for 59 years until his passing on March 28, 2020. Roy and Betty had two sons, Hoss and Robby, their pride and joy. Roy was a great dad.

Hoss and Robby later grew up and followed their Dad’s footsteps by marrying the loves of their lives. From there, came grandchildren. Roy’s grandchildren were his heart and joy. There was no denying that. He proudly wore the name “PaPa”. Vanessa Michell, Amanda Kay, Nathan Cole, Stacy Sheree and Kaycee Lynn were loved by their PaPa with everything he had. PaPa would argue that his grands were the most beautiful, perfect beings and there was no convincing him otherwise. From the time they could each sit up on their own, he would put drumsticks in their hands. He just hoped that one of the grands would be a musician. Then life got a bit sweeter and the great-grands came along. With the great grands, he received a new title of “PaPa Butch”. He was the proud PaPa Butch of Maggie, Cayden and Kolby Larrison along with Brodie and Baker Beech.

Loved ones that will miss Roy always in all ways are his wife, Betty Blakley, son Hoss Blakley and wife Kathy, son Robby Blakley and wife Becky, Grandchildren, Jace and Vanessa Larrison, JR and Amanda Beech, Nathan Blakley and Carsyn Crawford, Stacy Blakley, Kaycee Blakley and Tyler Durant. Great grandchildren Maggie, Cayden and Kolby Larrison, Brodie and Baker Beech. Extended family including Fairlene, Charlotte, Ann, Jan, Joyce, Penny, Tommy and Jan and numerous nieces and nephews. Loved ones that he reunited in heaven with are his parents, Roy and Erma Blakley, brothers Terry and Randy Blakley, Betty’s parents Earl and Betty Snow, brother-in-law Johnny Snow and nephew Terry Blakley, Jr.

A memorial service honoring Roy’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ located 105 East Eberhardt St. in Perrin.
