Rex Neal McCallister, 62, of Bowie, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 27, at the Montague County Cowboy Church in Montague with Pastors Joe Caballero and JD Ezzell officiating.

Rex was born Nov. 19, 1957 in Bowie to Truman and Anna May (Hazelton) McCallister. He graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1976. On October 17, 2008 Rex married Valerie Lane in Bowie. Throughout his life he worked as a pumper in the oilfield, and took care of his ranch. Rex loved to hunt and fish, and he was a big Dale Earnhardt fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ouida Clark, brother Mac McCallister, nephew Larry Blevins and brother-in-law Joe Blevins.

Rex is survived by his wife Valerie McCallister of Bowie; sister Sharon Blevins of Nocona; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
