Ray Ned Walker

Ray Ned Walker, 83, passed away Monday, July 17, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ray was born March 19, 1933, in Barton’s Chapel, Texas. He was married to Truetta Fern Waldrop on July 20, 1955, celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2015 with friends and family. They were very active in their local church. Ray served his country for 31 years and retired as Lt. Colonel, Texas Army National Guard. He was awarded the U.S. Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal, Texas Medal of Merit and numerous performance commendations. Ray also served terms as the Division I Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis International and Mineral Wells Booster Club President. He was the 1949 Valedictorian of Perrin High School in Perrin, Texas and a 1954 graduate of Texas A&M University. 

He is survived by his wife, Truetta of Alvarado; children Ray Walker, Jr. and wife Amy of Aledo, Glynn Walker and wife Chele of Cross Plains; Rex Walker and wife Mechelle of Richmond; Troy Walker and wife Lisa of Montgomery; Judy Hargrove and husband Dee of Midlothian, and nieces Kathryn Reagan, Marie Holman, and Nelda Cooper. His descendants include 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Gladys Walker and sister, Lena Anderson.

A memorial service was held Thursday, July 21, at the Alvarado Church of Christ, 401 East Highway 67, Alvarado, Texas.
