Carroll Ralph Hammond passed away on Saturday October 22, 2016 at his home in Jacksboro. 

He was 90 years old. He was born on September 30, 1926 to John Wesley and Maude Lorene (Allison) Hammond in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Ralph or “C. R.” as many liked to call him, married Alice Lorraine Geneva October 11, 1947 in Chandler, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Memorial Christian Church (The Parish); Lions’ Club, Red Cross of Jacksboro, Fort Richardson Masonic Lodge # 320 and the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce. 

Ralph was very active in the community including being a past School Board Member, a director of First National Bank and the Oakwood Cemetery Board. He loved to spend time with his family. He owned City Drug Store where he was a pharmacist for over 58 years. He was always there ready with a smile to answer questions and open the doors to fill emergency prescriptions. Ralph was a kind and loving family man of whom his family and community will miss dearly.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Sue Hammond in 1979; his parents; and his sisters Ruby Mae, Ruth, and Dorothy.

Ralph is survived today by his wife Alice of over 69 years; his son James Rodney and wife Kathy of Jacksboro, daughter Debra Lorraine Thomasson and husband Tim of Coppell; brother-in-law Belton Williams; grandchildren Allison, Ryan, Lauren, Katy, and Victoria; great-grandchildren Alexis, Rhett, Brooke, Christian and Timothy; and many other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26 at Memorial Christian Church with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Faith Community Hospital Charitable Foundation for the Wellness Center, Concerned Citizens of Jack County, The Parish Building Fund, or Shriners Hospital for Children.
