Pat Herring, 80, passed away on Sunday, July 11, at Graham Oaks Care Center in Graham, Texas. Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14 at Southside Baptist Church in Olney, with Andy Graham, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Newcastle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Pat was born on June 14, 1941, in San Francisco, California, to the late Ralph Conway and Ramona (Sharrock) Conway. She was an honor graduate at Jacksboro High School in 1959. She then attended North Texas State College in Denton, Texas where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She married Don Herring on August 25, 1962 in Jacksboro, Texas. Pat began her teaching career at Mineral Wells ISD for three years and moved to Olney.

She taught English at Olney High School for thirty-seven years, helping her many students prepare for college or their work careers. She left a lifelong impression of how important writing skills are to be successful. Pat was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Olney.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don on January 13, 2007, and a sister, Mickey Shock.

Pat is survived by her son, Skipper Herring and wife Darla of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Tristen Herring of Vernon, Texas; grandson, Jake Herring and wife Barrie and great-grandsons Gabriel and Ryker all of Beggs, Oklahoma; grandson, Josh Herring of Burkburnett, Texas; several in-laws as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the folks at Graham Oaks Care Center, Dr. Lucas and the staff at Graham Regional Medical Center, and a special sister-in-law Thelma Routon and niece Pam Phillips for all of their wonderful care.
