Nell Marie Elenburg Harris

July 15, 1932 – May 6, 2022

Nell Marie Elenburg Harris, born July 15, 1932, was reunited with open arms by her one and only love of 65 years, Deryl C. Harris, her daughter Sue Duncan (March 4, 2020), and her parents Cecil and Iona (DeShane) Elenburg, on Friday, May 6.

Nell had 50 years experience in the Title Co. with Texas Abstract, Palo Pinto County Abstract and E & W Abstract. She retired at the young age of 81. As she told Wendell Privitt that day, I’m tired. She loved her job and the people she worked with every day, they were family to her.

Her family had a band back in the day, that played at the Baker Hotel and the Crazy Water Hotel. They called themselves, The Elenburg Family Band.

Nell is survived by her loving daughter, Cindy Whisenhunt and husband Don and by her son-in-law, Scott Duncan; grandchildren, Chris Duncan (Kristine), Chad Whisenhunt (Leslie), Terra Mitchell (Shawn), Valerie Hopkins, Don (Bubba) Whisenhunt (Amber), Brittany Whisenhunt and (Sheri Whisenhunt). She had 25 great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law/sister-in-laws, Sue Elenburg Greer, Jean Elenburg, Loyd and Bea Harris, Barbara Neumeyer and Sharon Harris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, her parents, and two brothers Wayland D. Elenburg and Delzon (Possum) Elenburg.

Any considered donation may be made to the Pythian Home in Weatherford in her honor.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells. Her nephew, Tony Elenburg, officiated and Bro. Nathan Buchanan will assist. Burial followed at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.

Just in case you didn’t notice it, The Elenburg Family Band is back together again.
