Mattie Marie Creswell, 83, of Brownfield, died peacefully in her home on Monday, Sept. 13. We celebrate her life knowing she now walks on streets of gold singing her praises.
Visitation was held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro. A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksboro, with burial following at Long Hollow Cemetery.

Mattie Marie was born Sept. 1, 1938 to the late Guy Garrison Sr. and Nora Lee Warren. She married Martin Chester Butler in 1955. They had 3 children. She was a homemaker and loved her children dearly. She was always busy and loved to cook for her family. She loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening and long drives in the country. She was a member of the Church of God and boldly professed her faith to everyone she met. She loved and adored her family, she covered them in prayers daily, and was the family prayer warrior. All she wanted was for her family to know the lord as their personal savior. We rise up and call her blessed, we all love and adore her. She has left a big hole in our hearts and lives. But the family knows without a doubt she is at peace in her heavenly home and will see her again.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Garrison Sr. and Nora Lee Warren; her husband Martin Chester Butler; her brother Guy Garrison Warren Jr.; sons, Guy Edward Butler and David Martin Butler; and her granddaughter, Emily Ann-Marie Leatherwood (and her second husband Robert Creswell).

Mattie is survived by her only daughter Kathy Marie and husband Ricky Leatherwood; her brothers, Ronnie Warren & wife Charlotte, Bill Warren, and Johnny Bowers and wife Virginia; her grandchildren, Josh Leatherwood and wife Nikki, Libby Payne and husband Mitch, Stacy Waters and husband Brandon, Candance Butler, Brandon Butler, Ryan Butler and wife Kendra, Michael and Michelle Butler; great grandchildren, Grayson, Graham, Griffin and Gains Leatherwood, Riley, Emmalyn, Lillianna, Liam and Finley Waters, Gunnie Butler, Evan Butler; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
