Mary Beth Roper left this life to be with her Savior on Feb. 1, 2020. Services were held at 1 PM Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Bryson. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 PM Monday at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home.

She was born March 30, 1932 to Luther and Myrtle (Huber) Hester in Oran. She attended schools in Bryson and was a graduate of Bryson High School. She attended North Texas University and later became a private piano and voice teacher. She played piano for many school related activities and Church events as well as playing for funerals and weddings at home and in surrounding communities.

She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church where she became Church pianist at an early age, later becoming organist, a position she filled for around 30 years.

She married Bill Roper from Henrietta on May 14, 1955. They remained happily married until Bill’s passing in January of 2004. They were parents of their only daughter, Tresda Neff who survives her. Other survivors include a granddaughter, Staci Neff; a grandson, Jesse Neff and wife Elizabeth; 3 great grandchildren, Tyler Neff and Jennifer, Natalie Neff and Ethan Neff and a great great grandson, Nicholas Neff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Mildred Hester, a brother John Hester and by her son in law, Jackie Neff.
