Linda Carol (Gary) Denton passed away Monday, Oct. 24, at her home in Jacksboro. She was 76 years old.

Linda was born March 18, 1946, in Jacksboro, to J.C. and Effie Mae (Hart) Gary.A visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Coker Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Linda married Bobby Lee Denton, of Las Animas, Colo., in McCamey on Dec. 24, 1964. Together they had two children, Malinda and Robert. Linda was a homemaker for the first decade of her children’s lives. She was very active in their school and extracurricular activities. She also helped on the family farm.

Soon they started their own agricultural crop-dusting business. Bobby flew, Linda flagged and did the bookkeeping. They parted ways in 1985. Linda went to work at the Bent County Clerk’s office where she stayed for several years. She moved back to Jacksboro in August 1989, where she was a part owner of Jack County Packers with her brothers Charles and Alton Gary. She was full of life and had so very many friends.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and their wives, Wesley Gary, Charles and Grace Gary, Alton and Colleen Gary; and several nieces and nephews. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Malinda Denton (Randy), and Robert Denton (Liz); sister, Dorthy Milhollon; sister-in-law, Johnnye Gary; grandchildren, Gage Coen, Shelby Casper (Kyle), Bailey Welch, Kelsey Denton, Breanna Lee Denton, Kaidon King and Blake Martin; great-grandchildren, Haxton, Cohlson, Roan, Rhyder, and Knyla; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended relatives and many, many friends.
